I listened to #RebeccaSolnit speak with Mitch Jeserich about her new book, The Beginning Comes After the End at #CliosBooks last night in #Oakland .

She is one of those thinkers and writers who help me make sense of the world right now, like #HeatherCoxRichardson. I've started reading her book, which is significant for me. Since 2020, and especially 2024 I've gone from being a fairly avid reader to a phone starer. I now realize that is a form of defeat.

She uses #history and the long view of various movements of #ClimateActivism and #HumanRights to show that, while things seem dark, we continue to make the world better, and that we cannot give up and use the language of defeat. She referenced another person helping me right now, #EricaChenoweth.
