𝘕𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥𝘯'𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶, 𝘉𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘶𝘥𝘢? Heart - 'Little Queen'. ♥👸🏻🎸💿 (14 May 1977)
The third studio album by Heart may well be the most renowned one predating their commercial peak in the '80s, owing to its standout lead single, "Barracuda", which has since become a classic rock staple for decades. However, it does possess its own merits. With the Wilson sisters still exploring their acoustic inclinations at the time of its release, the album boasts a collection of delightful tunes that are charmingly beautiful, alongside robust rock anthems such as the aforementioned lead single and "Kick It Out", respectively. Indeed, echoes of Led Zeppelin's influence are discernible throughout 'Little Queen', adding a pleasing dimension. This observation has been further elaborated upon over the years, with many likening Heart to a female counterpart of Led Zeppelin. Nevertheless, as is customary with any Heart album, listeners are treated to Ann Wilson's phenomenal vocal prowess and Nancy Wilson's captivating guitar craftsmanship, which have become emblematic of their sound over the decades. In sum, this stands as one of my preferred Heart albums, if not the finest, from their formative years - a period characterised by purity, devoid of the synthesisers and glossy production values that would later define their sound in the '80s (by the way, I also have a certain degree of appreciation for that era when they "reinvented" their sound - some of the power ballads are truly exceptional and memorable).
