Gorgeous. A 19th‑century double‑walled kitchen garden turned into a plant‑lover’s playground, complete with lake, tropical house and enough bunting to make Pinterest weep. It’s free to get in (dangerous, because you’ll spend it all in the tearoom anyway), dog‑friendly and run by people who clearly know their way around both a trowel and a Victoria sponge. We had lovely food - fresh, colourful and the kind of salad that makes you feel virtuous enough to justify cake. The babies were entertained by cuddles and the rest of us got to pretend we were having a calm, civilised lunch. 10/10 would recommend if you like flowers, cake and the smug glow of “we’re making memories” while secretly counting down to nap time. 📌 Baumber, Horncastle, LN9 5NL, United Kingdom. About (sourced from Walled Garden Baumber’s own official site, the Visit Lincolnshire tourism listing and a feature guide on Lincoln and Beyond) • It’s a 4‑acre double‑walled garden in Baumber, near Horncastle, Lincolnshire, originally the 19th‑century kitchen garden for Stourton Hall (demolished in 1955). • The site was derelict when designer and photographer duo Sonia and David Elton took it on in 2006.
