Strokes, untreated HIV, and a suicide spike: inside the medical catastrophe at ICE detention centers
As I see that I am starting to ramble--my apologies.
Today was just another of those days where something that should have been easy and routine was NEEDLESSLY HARD and it is just so, so exhausting.
And while it does not happen every single time, it CAN happen ANY time.
And it's about time healthcare institutions stepped up and started making this better.
Because I will not be dying for *their* convenience. 😡

I went to get a blood draw today. Five minutes for intake to print out one sheet of paper. 15 minutes waiting for billing only to have them scan in the document they just printed. Then they told me I could get a 20% discount if I paid now. $93 later I finally get to wait for my two minute procedure. I’ve never had to pay for a draw anywhere else.
