Just found out I can't get my COVID booster until the end of October at the earliest, even though I'm high risk and due for one. What the fuck, Ontario? #HealthcareOrLackThereof #Ontario #Covid #CovidBooster

Medical treatment and professionalism has drastically gone downhill in the past few years. I've been waiting for a referral regarding a spot on my leg for about two years. I just heard back from a clinic about a spot on my back. I have an appointment with them next month. When I asked if they will look at my leg, too, they said they can't because they didn't receive a referral regarding that.

So now I have to go to my family doctor again about it, even though I reminded him about my leg the same day that I had my back looked at. I'll be walking there today. Again.

And I still haven't heard back from the shoulder clinic regarding my frozen shoulder. I was told the quicker they could see me, the better, and my initial referral was about a month ago. #HealthcareOrLackThereof

Three months later, I finally got my HRT officially renewed. But the OB-GYN has wiped her hands of me and said refills should be done through my family doctor. This sucks, because my family doctor doesn't think I should be on HRT. They were the ones who put me on antidepressants for menopause instead of HRT, and the antidepressants seriously ruined my life for a year or more. I was having terrible reactions to them.

I hate how menopausal people are treated as a psychiatric afterthought.

WTAF. I called the pharmacy to let them know my HRT hasn't been delivered. They told me the doctor hasn't faxed them with proof of prescription renewal. And this week, the nurse let me know she was sending a fax to the pharmacy to renew the prefect for three more months.

So the pharmacist told me that the d have to call the doctor again. I explained that the doctor's office won't be open again until Tuesday, and i would be out of meds by then.

The pharmacist checked my files to make sure I've been on this for an extended period. Then she agreed to make the executive decision to give me a refill so I don't have to spend the holidays in absolute withdrawal misery, because cutting off hormones suddenly is baaaad. Yeah. I'm aware.

Time to go to the pharmacy. I won't believe this is over until I have meds in hand. I've been struggling with this for over a month with numerous doctor visits and a LOT of phone calls. #HealthCareOrLackThereof #WildGooseChase #menopause #HRT

The nurse at the OB-GYN is going to bat for me. I only have one week's worth left of HRT. She is going to try to get my prescription refilled. I think I'll need to see the doctor in person first. It's only the most hectic, disrupted time of the year. I sure hope she can make it happen. I've been trying to get this prescription filled for about a month. I'm too tired to jump through so many hoops. Blargh. #menopause #HRT #HealthcareOrLackThereof

My quest to refill my HRT prescription just hit another obstacle. I've been to my family doctor twice over the past month to get a refill. I was denied the first time because I didn't have my prescription codes with me, and the second time because the prescription was with my OB-GYN. I've phoned my OB-GYN several times, and finally got a nurse contacting me back to say I had nothing to worry about. My prescription would be refilled and I wouldn't have to suffer from going cold turkey.

Just got another call from the office of my OB-GYN saying that I can't get a refill without first seeing my OB-GYN. So I said, ok. Let's book an appointment.

Not possible without a referral from my family doctor because it's been over two years since I last saw my OB-GYN.

How come I wasn't offered the option of a followup in the past two years?

No idea, said the nurse.

So now I have to go to my family doctor's office, which is always full of sick, unmasked people to ask for a referral to a doctor who might not be able to see me for months.

I'm expected to suffer.

I hate this medical system so much. #HealthcareOrLackThereof #OntarioHealth

My HRT prescription runs out this month. I've been trying to get it renewed for the past few weeks with no luck. My family doctor said they couldn't do it without the prescription codes (it was initially prescribed by an OB-GYN), but when I brought them the prescription information, they said they couldn't do it after all. They said the OB-GYN hadn't sent them follow-up information.

I've been leaving voice mail with my OB-GYN every day this week. No one has called me back. I'll call again in twenty minutes and try to find an actual human on the line.

I do not want to go cold turkey off my meds. I do not want a return to the awful symptoms I was experiencing before. I like being able to sleep without drenching the bed with sweat. I like being able to function without suddenly overheating. I like not having ears so itchy I want to pull a Vincent Van Gogh. And I do not want the crippling anxiety attacks which occur when my hormones tank, let alone the intense fatigue which accompanies all this. HRT greatly improves my quality of life.

Why must it be so hard to get medical care? #menopause #HRT #HealthCareOrLackThereof

Just got my RSV vaccination. I had to pay out of pocket because it's not covered by my insurance. According to the govt, my having a respiratory disease isn't enough to warrant my getting the shot. Good thing I can afford it. But what about the people who can't? #HealthcareOrLackThereof #vaccines #RSV

OMG. The incompetence/crookedness continues. I got my shot no problem, but when Pharmasave ran it through the system, it showed that Shoppers had already given me my flu shot. And Shoppers had also billed for it despite not administering the vaccine.

Fortunately, Shoppers had given me back my paperwork which they would otherwise have kept. so I could prove it hadn't happened. And yet they had marked down a time saying when they'd given me a shot.

WTF encore.

Do not go to Shoppers if you can help it. I've had soooo many bad experiences with them. Go to an independent pharmacy.

Welp, they don't actually have a fact sheet and are unable to locate one, so they won't give me my vaccination. I told them it's not right that everyone getting vaccinations is expected to commit perjury, but apparently that's provincial policy. What the actual fuck? #HealthcareOrLackThereof
