I put Rislone head gasket fix which I found similar #sealer in #youtube video in my radiator and overflow tank and my Ford Festiva was drivable again after the old radiator cap would not go on when removed as replacement radiator was non-standard and I tried to drive to Supercheap Auto to get fitting radiator cap with no radiator cap (as it would not go on) when I should have caught public transport and not destroyed engine. #RACQ found radiator cap that fitted using a ruler. I got Rislone from Supercheap Auto in Morayfield via bus. Finished up the head gasket job on a 2015 #Jetta, flushed the coolant and oil.. got er down off the jacks... and what do you know. She runs! No codes!

Ended up about $500 in parts and fluids overall.

Some rust related aches, some wonky tool paths (thanks, VW), minor fretting with timing the engine - but in the end, these #SOHC engines are pretty simple, fun little learning experience, and beat the (heavy) snowfalls.

Took some worky work, exhaust studs were in some state... but finally have the engine split on this #VW. Making some slow progress with this #HeadGasket job.

Does this need a head gasket?

I dunno, but hopefully about to find out. Misfire codes on cylinders 2 & 3, consumes oil and coolant.

Topped the coolant, about to change the oil, then will check compression and change the spark plugs. See what we can see..

Coming at this half-blind of course, so prob doing some wrench learning this afternoon
