Ep 8 part 10

Pentious's loss comes back to hit Charlie again and she blames herself for not being more convincing to Heaven. Lucifer being best dad reprises 'Happy Day in Hell' for the musical finale.

'The Show Must Go On' covers the reconstruction of Hazbin Hotel into something a lot more than a beat up old family property. As well as a scene with Alastor in the ruins of his old radio tower, plotting a way to break free of his deal, and a scene with the V's plotting to take over more of Hell's territory.

In the final scene we get a million more questions. Pentious appears in Heaven, right in front of Emily and Sera, as an angel (or winner) due to his sacrifice for his friends. We also see Lute confronting a woman, who we learn is Lilith, on a Heavenly looking beach. Lilith is told that her and Adam's deal is done and if she wants to remain in Heaven then she better go check her daughter from interfering in Heaven anymore.

Episode Rating: 100/10

Ep 8 part 9

Charlie is saved by her dad and, this is what makes me think she hasn't truly gotten hold of her powers yet, Adam tries to attack when Lucifer's back is turned. Charlie, like seriously IDK, transforms her arm and catches Adam's hit before it reaches Lucifer.

#Lucifer freakin transforms into his demon self. Badass #ShortKing! and beats the hell out of Adam but is stopped from going all the way by Charlie. Too bad.

Adam manages to climb out of the crater Lucifer put him in and still won't shut up about how great he is. Damn, man, know when to walk away and say you're beaten. Thankfully though, his ranting is cut short by an angel blade to the back.

Courtesy of Niffty. Unhinged little gremlin that she is.

Lute calls for the retreat, and Extermination Day is canceled, leaving the group minus a few members and the hotel in ruins.

EP 8 part 8

All looks lost for our Demon Princess until... daddy gets home. hahaha

Lucifer shows up! And he shows in a big way. Swoops in and punches Adam so hard he goes flying and the exorcist mask cracks in half.

Pause here for my own headcanon. I've seen a few people agree with me too. I believe that the reason for Lucifer not being there from the start is because of the deal with Heaven. That Lucifer couldn't interfere with the exterminations or the angels so long as the Hellborn and his family weren't harmed. His hands were figuratively tied until Adam struck Charlie in their fight and thus broke the deal himself.

So that means Lucifer is free to fuck Adam up. (damn funniest scene in almost the whole season) Luci's just playing with him the whole time but Adam still manages to laser beam what's left of the hotel and causes it to collapse the rest of the way.

EP 8 part 7

I heard a few complaints about the Charlie and Adam fight. I can see where they're coming from but Charlie being a match or winning against Adam was never the point. She was never going to win on her own. For one, Charlie isn't a fighter. She has the raw potential and power scale but nothing to back it up. Secondly, the main arc for her this season was standing up and putting her big girl shoes on. She needed to be able to become a leader and take on that role of "Princess of Hell".

There is still a lot of growing for her to do in the future.

She looks beyond awesome in her demon form by the way (I love that her tail has a heart on it.) Charlie was able to stand her ground far past what Alastor was able to take. Adam does overpower her though and Vaggie is struggling with Lute on the other side of the roof again. This is why you don't leave your enemies living.

EP 8 part 6

Okay, I'm trying not to let my broken heart color my words here but... (deep breath) they did Razzle and Dazzle dirty. These two little creatures have been with Charlie since she was a kid and throughout the season they've been largely a part of the decor- with a few moments in Episode 5 and 7 between them, Charlie, and Lucifer. They get 5 seconds of being something more than living plushies and then Dazzle fucking DIES! WTF! They don't get in a swipe, a bite, or a growl at the enemy threatening Charlie.

And it SUCKS!!

Lute skewers Dazzle and he crashes through the hotel to the ground. Vaggie, who was riding him, is now in a face off against Lute. Excellent fight scene follows. It ends with Lute being trapped by debris but is left to live with her shame of failure. Vaggie takes flight to go help Charlie, who had been fighting Adam on the roof, this leaves Lute alive- to rip her own arm off to free herself from the rubble.

EP 8 part 5

In a bold but stupid and self sacrificial move the Snake finally kisses his crush and tells her his feelings before running off and getting vaporized the blink of an eye by Adam. Literally the blink of an eye. Adam just beeps him out of existence though Pentious has never looked this cool.

This is a blow to everyone. Especially for Charlie, who had been so proud of Pentious, and how he had become part of the family at the hotel. She calls on Razzle and Dazzle, her two little companions, and they shift into massive dragons. Charlie has finally had enough and goes full demon form too (though I don't think it's her final stage). Her and Vaggie ride Razzle and Dazzle into the air to face Adam and Lute.

EP 8 part 4

Adam can barely land a hit on Alastor as they trade insults and barbs. The Radio Demon wins in wit but it only takes one hit from the extermination leader to break his mic and send him flying. Alastor is forced to flee to save his own life in the face of a much stronger opponent.

I thought this was very well written. As strong as Alastor is to the Overlords and the rank'n file of Hell he doesn't have defenses capable of withstanding an attack from an angel of Adam's level. This shows what power Adam has even though he acts like a lazy idiot. Which, in turn, shows where Charlie is at in their fight, and later when Lucifer shows up.

With Alastor out of the way Adam is free to go crazy on the Sinners still fighting around the hotel. In an attempt to take the most dangerous angel out of the fight Sir Pentious takes command of his gunship and... Wait... WHY WASN'T THIS IN USE BEFORE???... Argh... Fine...

EP 8 part 3

Then comes the payoff for the entire 8 episodes. Extermination Day. The battle begins and everyone has pulled out their best. The outfits are awesome, especially Angel Dust, Cherri Bomb, and Charlie. Angel's outfit is a callback to his origins as a gangster and Viv's original design for him. Cherri just looks good in hers. Charlie also looks so damn good. The apple seraphim shield and black tiara are perfect to top it all off.

Alastor is the first line of defense, which makes sense, as he is the strongest in their ranks. Don't get me wrong, Charlie has more power, but she's not used to using it like Alastor is. A shield is put in place around the hotel and cuts the angel numbers in half with some being trapped outside it. Alastor's efforts last for a little while but Adam easily punches through it and the shield falls. Then the first big fight scene happens. Alastor vs Adam and It. Is. Awesome.

EP 8 part 2

I've said it before, I'm so glad Cherri and Angel's friendship remained intact, and by the end of the episode I totally believe we will be seeing much more of her and her story in Season 2.

That night the group is having a final cheers before meeting the angels in battle, with a few key interactions that just made me smile. #AngelDust and Husk are so good for each other, they may be only friends now, but I don't see it remaining in that territory for long. It may be rough though as I don't think Angel's had (in life or death) a stable relationship of that sort.

We cut to #Charlie who is letting her fears of failure overwhelm her as she stands in front of Angel's door. #Vaggie finds her and finally we get the #chaggie moment we've been waiting for. I really wish they had their own duet and not a reprise of Charlie and Lucifer's father/daughter song. As it is though, the moment is beautiful, and very needed for the two.

EP 8 part 1

I cant believe we're here. A full season of HH, as rushed as it was, what an accomplishment for Vivienne and indie animation in general. No matter what I'm eagerly awaiting Season 2 and hope for much more down the line.

From the last episode there was a month to go til the extermination. This can be an issue sometimes with stories that take place over long periods of time, jumping from one spot on the timeline to the next can be jarring if a viewer isnt paying attention. The time lapse montage we get this time is actually done very creatively, with Vox spying on the hotel, and us seeing what's going on through his TVs.

We catch up on the night before the attack where Charlie gives a very nice speech to an audience of one. Vaggie is the only one who responds to any of it. Aside from Niffty who is excited to claim that they're all going to die. We also see that Cherri Bomb has joined the group and is there ready to fight alongside Angel Dust.
