Another look at @hawaiivolcanoesnps

One of the things I most enjoyed about our time at the park site was discovering all of the foliage and splashes of color throughout the park.

I anticipated seeing a great deal of lava rock and harsh, monotone landscape.

But there is a lot more to the park. This picture was taken just outside the Thurston Lava Tubes, an area replete with jungle foliage.

There is a lot to miss about living on the Big Island. And even more that bums me out about staying mainland.

Having come across this photo makes me miss being in paddling shape.

What is neat though, is that once I am able to move back I’ll be able to race in the masters 60+ division.
