Rigo Vivar, a former deputy for the Harris County Precinct 6 Constable's Office, was arrested and charged with manslaughter in connection to a 2024 vehicle crash that killed 28-year-old Ricardo Resendez.

Former Harris County deputy arrested, charged with manslaughter in man’s death

The crash happened in the 2700 block of Canal Street in August of last year, when deputy Rigo Vivar allegedly skipped traffic and drove the wrong way on the street, striking Ricardo Resendez's vehicle. Vivar was driving his personal vehicle at the time of the crash.

A Harris County Constable's Office deputy involved in a car crash that left a 28-year-old dead was terminated, but no criminal charges have been filed against the officer yet.

Harris County constable’s office deputy terminated after deadly crash, charges not yet filed

In a statement, attorneys representing the family of Resendez called on charges to be filed into the crash, and said they "seek full and complete justice for Ricardo Resendez, Jr. and to make sure that this will never happen to another innocent private citizen ever again."
