I was serious about adding vegetable and fruits, and did alright in first years, but drought, intense summer heat, and keeping the soil full of nutrients is very challenging, and I struggled, especially last year. Very low yields, and they mostly went to the birds and critters looking for moisture and vegetation. Devastating.
