Bit of a niche one, folks

Anyone in the UK had experience with National Lottery emails about taking direct debits from accounts that don't exist?

For context, my dad died in 2013. My mum has– this year and maybe for longer? -been getting emails from them about taking a direct debit from him for the upcoming several months. (Her address is just a variant on his old account, it's all @ him and looks legit)

I'm on holiday atm but thinking to call the (no doubt bot-staffed) number to ask them wtaf and please fucking stop when I get back.

Just... In case anyone has experience randomly.

Gender discrimination in the entertainment industry remains a persistent issue in West Hollywood. Workers face unequal pay, limited opportunities, and retaliation. California law offers powerful protections, but timely action is essential.

Empirical evidence from Professor Cordelia Fine.

Guess what? Workplaces are unsafe for women not because men & women are ‘made that way’, but because they operate in cultures that enable men to employ harassment as a way to protect their privilege when they feel threatened.

Same dynamic applies in other categories of social hierarchy - those whose privilege is threatened claim it as ‘natural’, until they can’t.

Isn’t time we all recognised the blinkers that come with our situated privilege, whatever that may be, and just grew up?

Power is always seen more clearly from below.

Why do men sexually harass women at work? Science offers two explanations – but only one of them holds up

There are two ways to understand sexual harassment in the workplace, but one of them is more scientific than the other.

Women are being secretly filmed with smart glasses. Outdated privacy laws make it tough to get videos removed | CBC Radio

Smart glasses make it remarkably easy to film someone without their consent. And those who study covert filming say it can create a physical and psychological threat, from stalkers to increased anxiety, as the law struggles to keep up.
