#HappyBiirthday to Sir Isaac Brock, a national hero in Canada for his role in defending Upper Canada during the #WarOf1812. After joining the British military in 1785, Brock was sent to Canada in 1802 where he was promoted to colonel in 1805. In 1811 he assumed command over all troops in Upper Canada (now Ontario), and civil administration of the province as well. He died at the Battle of Queenston Heights.

#HappyBiirthday to the greatest #NHL goalie in history, Glenn Hall. His record of 502 consecutive games played, 551 including playoffs, in an era when goalies did not wear masks, will never be broken. His performance in the Stanley Cup finals of 1968 and 69 was legendary, when his team the St. Louis Blues was badly outmatched, and it seemed only Hall would keep the Canadiens from winning.

Better known to Canadians as Daniel Nestor, he was born in Belgrade, Serbia, and immigrated to Canada at age four. Nestor, with different partners, appeared in 100+ finals and is the only player to win all of the Grand Slam doubles titles. Throw in Gold Medal for Canada at the 2000 Olympics.

#HappyBiirthday to one of my favourite #Hockey players, Hayley Wickenheiser, who was a fixture on Team Canada for 23 years. She represented Canada at the Winter Olympics 5 times, capturing 4 gold and one silver medal and twice being named tournament MVP. The only time I watched Wickenheiser play live was at a pre-olympic softball tournament in Brampton , The 3 Nation Cup, as she prepared for the Sydney Olympics in 2000.
