Di cosa ha paura, lui che la paura la sa raccontare? “Ho la fobia dei grossi crostacei, delle aragoste, dei granchi molto grossi: se prendo gli spaghetti allo scoglio, ad esempio, chiedo che mi tolgano il granchio davanti”. Così Carlo Lucarelli a Kong, il programma di Fabio Volo in onda su Rai Tre dal lunedì al venerdì. Lo scrittore e conduttore ha raccontato alcuni aneddoti legati al tema della puntata che era, appunto, la paura.
“Avevo paura del buio, come tanti- – ha raccontato tornando a quando era bambino – Volevo vedere Frankestein alla tv, mi disse di andare a letto e che mi avrebbe letto una favola. Poi raccontò ‘Hansel e Gretel’ a me e mio fratello, fu molto peggio: lui era sotto il lenzuolo e io credevo fossi morto, me la sogno ancora. Ma le paure in fondo ci piacciono: la paura ti attira, devi andare a vederla”. E queste parole, se si pensa alla continua esposizione della cronaca nera in tv e sui giornali, suonano quantomai vere. “La cronaca in tv funziona perché ci interessa ma il problema è che noi scrittori abbiamo educato la gente a vedere le cose come se fossero un giallo, appunto. Ma un libro di quel tipo ha ritmo per 350 pagine. Se c’è un’impronta sul muro, lì due capitoli dopo noi sappiamo di chi è. Nella realtà non è così: la situazione è un po’ sfuggita di mano”, le parole di Lucarelli.
Che ha aggiunto: “Servono gli strumenti per combattere la paura, serve la conoscenza. Se hai paura ti senti insicuro anche se hai dieci poliziotti. L’unico strumento è affrontarle e capire cosa si può fare. In Italia c’è una donna uccisa ogni quattro giorni, non puoi ovviamente risolvere i femminicidi mettendo un carabiniere in ogni casa”.

The writer and host recounted some anecdotes related to the theme of the episode, which was, indeed, fear.
“I was afraid of the dark, like many – he recounted, returning to when he was a child – I wanted to see Frankenstein on TV, he told me to go to bed and that he would read me a fairy tale. Then he told us ‘Hansel and Gretel,’ to me and my brother, it was much worse: he was under the blanket and I thought I was dead, I still dream it. But fears, in the end, we like them: fear attracts you, you have to go and see it.” And these words, if you think about the constant exposure to crime news on TV and in the newspapers, sound increasingly true. “Crime news on TV works because we’re interested in it, but the problem is that we writers have educated people to see things as if they were a mystery, indeed. But a book of that type has a rhythm for 350 pages. If there’s a footprint on the wall, two chapters later we know who it belongs to. In reality, it’s not like that: the situation is a bit out of control,” Lucarelli said.
He added: “You need tools to fight fear, you need knowledge. If you’re afraid, you feel insecure even if you have ten police officers. The only tool is to face them and understand what can be done. In Italy, a woman is killed every four days, you can’t obviously solve domestic violence cases by putting a carabiniere in every house.”
