À propos of nothing, my 8” x 10” lino block print illustrates the German fairytale Hans My Hedgehog collected by the Brothers Grimm.

I love the absurdity of a half-hedgehog man riding a rooster and playing the bagpipes.

His parents desperately wanted a child, and his father foolishly wished for “even a hedgehog”; his wife gives birth to a baby who’s hedgehog from the waist up. 🧵

#ArtAdventCalendar day 14: a print I made the 4th #FolktaleWeek2024 prompt trail. I thought of the fairytale Hans My Hedgehog, who knew all the right trails. I love the absurdity of a half-hedgehog man riding a rooster and playing the bagpipes.

Today is #nationalFairyTale day.
I remember reading #LittleGoldenBooks of #Disney type fairy tales and other stories by #HansChristianAnderson. Our kids Little Golden books are all #StarWars adaptations so I thought they should hear some original tales so I started looking up some #Grimm tales. We did #HansMyHedgehog and the original #Cinderella.

Here are a couple nice collections of non Disney tales here:
