Do you still want the next #HangTrek, or should we call for volunteers?
#SarlaccPit has a sort of structural problem (& to a lesser extent, #HangTrek). Thanks to the winner-gets-next thing, experienced players usu learn to stop playing (guessing & hosting). Eventually a noob guesses, runs a few, stumbles perhaps & figures it out. And then they learn to stop playing.
At the same time, we have some small rules toots & occasional convos about the games, but toots are kind of ephemeral. And so a lot of that info drifts off into the ether.
So continuity (explanations etc) has to be provided by the more experienced players. But not only do many stop playing, I wonder if hosting actually drives ppl offline or if many guessers just aren't on here that often & showing up at least once a day & jumping in is difficult. Or maybe ppl who play these games are naturally quiet or something.
There's also the quote-vs-phrase issue & the related q of overall difficulty level. Newer players tend to start with super-difficult material that turns some players off.
I still haven't found a good community wiki option or a much better place than Mastodon to put semi-permanent rules, advice, etc.
I don't know if there's any way to keep ppl more engaged.
