Thousands of Cubans gathered in Havana to express their condolences and pay tribute to the 32 Cubans who lost their lives during the #US attack on Venezuela.

“We’re here to recognize the bravery of those who sacrificed their lives,” said Dailene Dovale, a university professor.

“If there are 32 no longer with us, there are millions of Cubans today who are ready to follow the path of those 32,” said a Cuban doctor who previously served on a medical mission in #Venezuela.

Thousands of Cubans rose early this morning to honor the 32 compatriots killed by #US troops during the violent abduction of Venezuelan President #NicolásMaduro on January 3, 2026. Their remains were flown into #Havana, and honoured with a ceremony there before being carried along Boyeros Avenue—lined with mourners—to the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces. People waited for hours to pay tribute to the fallen Cubans, despite the heavy rain which swept in, filing past the coffins in silence and sorrow.

Cuba Analysis co-host #HelenYaffe was there as the procession passed and spoke with attendees about why they had participated and what this moment means for them and for #Cuba.

Solidary greetings from the Internationalist Alliance in Germany!

We condemn the assault of the United States on Venezuela's national independence! We and others organized protests in many cities of Germany immediately. The German government, itself imperialist, is—of course—unwilling and unable to condemn this crime and instead relativizes it.

But the protest is growing worldwide. The people are disgusted by this blatant violation of all international laws and practices. This is a turnback to colonialism: the plunder of resources and the subjugation of any opposition by force.

Our solidarity with Venezuela is not a pledge to Maduro’s policy. It is a pledge to Venezuela's sovereignty. That’s why Maduro must be set free, and the fascist Trump-regime must compensate the families of those they murdered and pay for the damage they have done.

And why did this happen? The multipolar world is one of competing imperialists, like Putin’s Russia, Xi’s China, or the German-French-led European Union. We must side with none but fight them all; firstly those in our own countries.

In the face of their colonialism, we must also remember that the main divide is not between the Global North and the Global South, but between up and down, between the monopolies and the masses, between the rulers and the ruled. We must stand together!

Long live international solidarity!
Death to Imperialism and Fascism!
Long live the United Front!
