On this day 40 years ago, 17 December 1984, Strawberry Switchblade were in the august surroundings of the Royal Albert Hall, supporting Howard Jones.

Here's their contract for the night. They were paid £200 for a one hour performance on four dates - 17th December at the Albert Hall, and then to the Hammersmith Odeon for a show on the 23rd and two more on the 24th.

Wonderful 2xLP live album of early 80s Dire Straits. Recorded in London at the Hammersmith Odeon over two nights in July 1983. Great versions of “Romeo and Juliet” and “Sultans of Swing.” There was also an accompanying film (on VHS, later reissued on DVD and Blu-Ray).
