Tried to work HADIES-R, I heard a slight change in static and possibly a voice! I wonder if it's time to build a better yagi, I might have gotten as far as I can with my 3 element tape-measure yagi

The #AntennaExperiment continues. The long-term goal here is to build a #yagi uda from first principles to work #AmSat #HamSat and #ARISS better.
In the short term, I plan on tying a bit of paracord to the hole at the end (Which I had to drill, thanks Lowes) and toss it in a tree for some #2M #POTA fun.
This is actually performing better to my local repeater held in my son's bedroom window than my ground plane antenna is that's on a mast on my shed-shack. 😬
I'm about to spam the #HamRadio and #AmateurRadio tags with a few mostly unrelated questions which I've written down over the last few months since getting my license, and which I haven't been able to find complete or understandable (by me) answers to.
Number One:
Will contacting the #ISS and #hamsat -ellites be easier with a portable setup, a decently-powerful radio, and a yagi I can point, or by an over-powered base station setup? You decide what "easy" means here.
