It's clear to see who the users are that don't view Mastodon as a first-class social network and are probably solely using automated tools to post. Follow it and any post you tag with the group name:
Will be seen by everyone in the group.
It's a try at building a Halifax community here on Mastodon.

It is an annoying oversight that when folks transfer to new instances, their followers transfer with them, so you don't need to go re-follow them again but if you had them on a list, like "Halifax" so you can get local news and views, the list does not get updated with their new login so you have to go find their new profile and add them to the list manually again.

CandiceGood morning all! Thanks for all the engagement/boosts/likes/welcome messages overnight. I'm sad to leave behind almost 5 months of content on #HalifaxSocial but good to be settling into another place in the Fediverse.

Our little East coast instance #halifaxsocial is calling it a day, so I have found a new home here - it seems nice and welcoming.
There, done migrating any old posts or boosts. I will now resume normal posting schedules. ;-)
For those who haven't used them, Lists here are not public like on Twitter, so what I've done for myself, and you can do for yourself is make a Halifax (or NS, etc.) List.
Just click on Lists, make a new list ("Halifax") and every time you follow a new Halifax account, add it to your Halifax List as well.
In a short time you'll have a one-click local Halifax Mastodon of your own. I check mine all the time for all the local news and yakking. It's great. All in one spot
With the upcoming closure of the Halifax.Social Mastodon instance, please remember to let folks know where you're going to be next by both posting it every few days and putting it on your profile page so folks who miss the posts can find you and follow you at your new Mastodon or other Fediverse account.
We Haligonians and fellow NSers need to stick together. :)
