End of the Coppicing Season - Urban Woodland Management

YouTube
Today saw the last of our woodland management volunteer sessions as bird nesting season approaches. In addition to more dead hedge creation this afternoon, other produce is being stored for use in projects throughout the year.

...while elsewhere on Main Marsh as part of today's volunteer session we were able to make a start on our second new green classroom project, beginning to make the area safe, defining the area and creating some dead hedges to provide a sense of enclosure. Further work to take place next weekend.

Sunday's woodland management volunteer session saw a return to Chestnut Copse on the eastern fringe of Main Marsh where we'd coppiced hazel a year ago, with the thinning of some taller trees and the material processed to create more dead hedge habitat and hibernacula.

...and another thank you, with a further overview from our volunteer sessions over the past few weekends including drone footage from Sunday's.

ReNature London

We specialise in building sustainable, long term habitat restoration from the bottom up to enhance local wildlife. Based on local knowledge of an area we create and manage woodlands, waterways and grasslands to boost existing populations and create space for other species to return. We run public engagement walks and talks and also teach nature recovery, ecology and arboriculture.
