I did not attend RSA, nor did it even come onto my radar. I am attending #AtlSecCon as a sponsor this year, and I'm hoping it will be successful.
My focus right now is on growing my brand within Canada as that's where the majority of my clients are, plus I'm bring patriotic. I'm also going to #Hackfest and #Sector this year as well, but this is likely going to be my last time at Sector as a sponsor.
Prices have gone up, the ROI isn't there, and honestly the conference has changed since Blackhat took over. It's also the same reason I don't want to attend RSA or other US-based conferences - I'm a very small fish in a bloody ocean of vendors, and pricing is keeping me out.
I've been running EliteSec for 6.5 years and I'm proud of what I've accomplished thus far. This year I'm evaluating how the new conferences go, but I do plan on making some moves later in the year regardless.
Just my thoughts on conferences from a sponsor's perspective. It sucks because I'm stuck at my booth the entire time, but it's great because I get to meet so many people. Anywho, I hope to see some of you at one of these this year. If you're coming out, be sure to stop by and say hello!
