❌withdrawing of the #ChatControl proposal.

On 1 July, EDRi and 47 civil society organisations sent a joint statement to the Hungarian Council Presidency and a number of member state permanent representatives. We call on the Council and European Parliament to demand that the European Commission withdraw the draft CSA Regulation.
Heute ist der Vorsitz im Rat der EU an Ungarn übergegangen. Alle 6 Monate wechselt die Ratspräsident*innenschaft zwischen den Regierungen der EU-Mitgliedsstaaten. Sie moderiert dort die Entscheidungsfindung.

Es ist noch nicht ganz klar wie Ungarn das Thema #Chatkontrolle angehen wird. Das offizielle(!) Motto nach Vorbild Trumps ("Make Europe Great Again") macht aber keine Hoffnung.
Im vorläufigen Arbeitsprogramm ist eine Beschlussfassung im Dezember vorgesehen:
