This was my talk for the #hope_16 conference. Thanks to @2600, @hopeconf staff, and volunteers for letting me ramble a bit about project planning. The conference was so fun! - https://travissouthard.com/?p=1353 #hope16 #HOPE

The first U.S. #TOTA at #HOPE_16 was a success! Thanks to the 30+ amazing operators that participated, many of which I got to meet, including the delightful people of @HamRadioVillage.

We made 336 FM, SSB, CW, and SSTV QSOs—52 of them "Toilet to Toilet"—with 13 operators being awarded the "Straight Flush" award. Stats available here:

Another @hopeconf in the books. This was my third and most engaging one. The more I learn and the more people I meet the more fun this event becomes.

Thank you all that made this happen

Had a fantastic time at #hope_16 this weekend! Watched cool talks, met cool people, and got to give a talk myself that went well!

Will post a blog post about my takeaways and the slides and recording from my talk, but first: I must sleep!

Home from Hope – Travis Southard

Summer camp is over.

#HOPE_16 and #DEFCON33 both went super awesome!

Let's keep the momentum, fire, and passion going to be the datarunners we wanna see in this world, be the bricks, and nerf the data silos.

We ain't come to lose.

I am at JFK, waiting to board my flight back from #HOPE_16 . It's been a wild weekend, in many ways better than last year. I met so many cool people, and got to shake @goldstein 's hand, whose magazine and radio show got me into hacking in the first place. I #HOPE to be back next year. Until then!

I got a few minutes at #hope_16 to catch up with Harry Halpin, who probably more than anyone is responsible for the existence of social web standards from the W3C.
#HOPE_16 NOC report was awesome. The number that blew my mind: 32% of HTTP traffic on the wifi network was unencrypted. How can that even happen?!?
