Well time for a little review of Sunday's
#HM - my main goal for this autumn was the Garda Trentino
#HM in early november. So the training plan is tailor made for that one.
The
#Schwarzwald HM was just supposed to be a little test, running with friends and colleagues. I didn't eye a good time as the training plan didn't have long and fast units yes; just long and slow or short and fast. As many colleagues fell ill, I decided to participate also on the 10k on Saturday afternoon, and regard the HM on Sunday morning just as a long run.
So the HM should be a quite controlled and that's the way I started. Pace was quite ok, but so was my pulse. I could talk easily to other people, and this stayed this way all the way uphill. Near the highest point my friend told me that I'm on pace to run a PB, but I was very unsure about that. Last year I completely messed it up downhill. On Sunday I somehow didn't and it went very well until three km's before the finish line. Then I got really tired and the wind was not my friend either. But I found the shadow of another runner and was carried towards the finish line. In the end I was more than 90 seconds faster than in Norway in June where I ran a PB. I was flabbergasted as this hilly course is normally not one for a PB. Oh well, how could this happen? Now I'm a bit ill and the muscles are still sore, but I achieved already much more than expected for this year. Garda Trentino is just a bonus run now.
