Finished my #HKsockKAL socks a few days ago, but it was too dark in Vancouver to take glamour shots of knitting until now!

I’m VERY pleased with these socks, they fit my unusual feet well and are very comfortable. I did my usual blunt toe instead of the pointed one that pattern suggests (pointed toes fit me poorly). I did half of the calf increase repeats the pattern suggested, and I both like the length of these socks and had just enough yarn to finish.

The pattern has more ends and more grafting than a lot of sock patterns do, which doesn’t bother me but might be a consideration for other knitters. The pattern does suggest that you can close up the arch with three-needle bindoff instead of grafting, but this would not work for me, because the top of my foot rubs against my shoes and is also pretty sensitive.

I found the diagonal rib detailing on the ankle to be cute but annoying to execute for me with my counting issues. It probably does improve the fit slightly for me because my ankles are smaller than my heels, so next time I may do ribbing there but if so it will not be diagonal.

I’ve already cast on another sock with this pattern! This time, I’m considering a hem for the sock cuff.

So, my Hipsulaisen Karuselli (Carousel Socks) are the wrong shape for my foot. They wrinkle at the ankle joint. It was a fun exercise but I'll stick to my usual heel flap and gusset.
A frogging I shall go, because I like the yarn.

#HKsockKAL update: have decided to stop after two sets of calf increases, so I’m on to the cuff ribbing after this! And then sock two.
Sad caroussel sock news, I’m afraid. It’s very tight over the instep and too wide in both the foot and the ankle. It seems my feet are not caroussel worthy. I’m not really feeling like trying to tweak the pattern to make it better, so these will be frogged and that’s the end of the cal for me. I did like exploring the unique construction and it reminded me that I do need a sock on the needles at all times! #knitting #hksockkal
Sock update: the knitting is finished. The last few scraps added a good amount of chaos and spring vibes. Now many many ends to weave in. The fit is quite good. Towards the toe near perfect. I bit too much room on the back of the ankle. If I would use this construction again I would make the two sections of the hexagon on the leg part (I think that's sections 5 and 6 in the pattern) in a ribbed fabric.

We have an instep seam! Very excited. #knitting #hksockkal
Back at the #hksockkal! Looks like I need a few rounds more.
Finished the toe of this sock. It still looks weird but more sock like. I did my toe the way a usually do, not the way the pattern suggested. I have put the leg on my needles and I'm thinking about what to do next. Follow the pattern of do my own thing?

Sockupdate: working on the legs using more scraps.

My sock journey continues. I have started the foot. Sock still looks strange but the yarn colours are nice. Now to figure out how to determine the length of the foot.
