In 2019 the remains of a 17th century cargo ship were found. Conservationists spent years documenting and preserving much of the structure, but some pieces could not be saved. So a maritime archaeologist was left with a decision as to what to do with those pieces. Scientists decided to turn the wood into fibres to be ecological with their use. From there two dresses were made which will go on display. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/a-shipwreck-but-make-it-fashion-researchers-transformed-wooden-fragments-from-a-17th-century-shipwreck-into-a-pair-of-stylish-maxi-dresses-180988825/
