Houston ISD could restrict student cell phone use during campus lockdowns

The district is working on a policy that would prevent students from accessing their cell phones during emergencies, in the interest of safety, after a recent string of unsubstantiated threats of violence as well as incidents involving weapons. Parents are pushing back against the idea.

Madison High School’s no-exceptions cell phone policy goes into effect Monday

Madison High School Principal Edgar Contreras said the strengthened policy was necessary to curb fights that have broken out at the school.
