Today I learned a new word.

It's one I have to admit particularly fits the third decade of the twenty-first century, and one I am honestly surprised we don't hear more of.

It's democide - the deaths directly caused by a government's policies.

It's the only form of murder that almost never gets charged, let alone any perpetrator ever see justice for.

Feel free to drop it into the conversation if talking to an NS MLA or Halifax Council member.

They should know it.

New HRM Deputy Mayor Sam Austin encouraged HRP to undermine his constituent rights and used misinformation to defend HRP trespassing to perform illegal searches:
"As an FYI, police do have a common law right to enter onto private property when investigated a criminal complaint. That right isn't absolute, it's subject to limitations..."
