An important fact to bear in mind for *both* of tonight's specials: Registered Republicans outnumbered Democrats. #HD87: 46% R, 36% D, 18% independent #SD14: 46% R, 37% D, 17% independent This almost certainly means some Republicans are voting Dem—very worrying for the GOP.

DeSantis has frequently dragged his feet on calling specials, usually in cases where doing so would either deprive Dems of representation in safe blue districts *or* protect the GOP from potentially losing a seat. #HD87 is the latter. Trump won it by 11 in 2024 but by just a whisker in '20 & '16.
