- Job title/description clarification & review.

- Increased PTO, incl adding Juneteenth & Pres Day to paid holidays.

- Implementing guidelines for reasonable accommodation requests under the Americans with Disability Act.

- Paid time to participate in the newly-est. joint labor-mngmt committee & #DEI work.

- Ability to continue to work remotely until July 1st.

Among Harper's US union contract provisions, continued:

- A one-time $1,500 bonus for all full-time union employees.

- Work done on Sat & in excess of 35 hrs/wk paid at 1.5x the usual rate, work done on holidays paid at 1.5x + holiday pay, & work done on Sun paid at 2x--and with the updated contract, employees earning > $60k may work up to 2 overtime hrs/wk without prior approval.

It's official--the HarperCollins Union in the US has ratified their new contract with Harper!!!

Among provisions:

- Baseline salary increase to $47,500 effective immediately, increasing to $48,500 in 2024 and $50k in 2025, with min salary increases for the subsequent three tiers along the same timeline.

- Guaranteed merit-based salary increases for all employees rated above "unsatisfactory."

The announcement comes after two other Big-5 US publishers raised their entry-level salaries in the last week: Hachette up from $45k to $47,500 for NYC-based employees and those in other high cost-of-living areas, and Macmillan up from $42k also to $47,500.

The HarperCollins Union was fighting for an entry-level salary of $50k, which would match Simon & Schuster.

Penguin Random House remains, for now, at $45k.
