So...#47 has just announced that the price of #HB1 visas are going from 5k to 100k. Oh, and for a cool one Million dollar bribe you can have a “gold” visa. Nobody knows what that means.

Now, I have thoughts, as a tech worker of 40 years, about HB1s as they apply to the computer field. But that’s not important right now. This will not create more openings for American coders at high wages.

This ensures off-shoring of everything that cannot be statutorily mandated to be inside border. This will accelerate call centers and code teams anywhere the companies can cut salaries for workers and raise them for ceos.

Ain’t nobody throwing down a hundred grand for a coder when they can build a whole team for that if they leave them in India. 🤷🏻‍♀️
