Ein Film, der über seine historische Vorlage hinauswächst und der sich heute, fast zwei Jahrzehnte nach seiner Premiere, wie ein queeres politisches Manifest anfühlt – und eine Mahnung ist. Und das nicht nur wegen der tragischen Geschichte, die der Film erzählt. In Sean Penns Darstellung von Harvey Milk liegt eine Verletzlichkeit und Würde, die selbst nach dem Abspann nachwirkt.
