On the off chance someone in my circle knows...

Fender amplifier schematics seem to commonly have a warning attached to some components, saying "DO NOT STUFF". On the schematic for a cheapie Chinesium Fender Frontman 10G that has just decided to fail immediately after the 2-year warranty ended, it's attached to half a dozen capacitors.

I don't know what "DO NOT STUFF" means regarding electronic components in a circuit. I've done some searching (and will do more tomorrow, it's late) but all my results so far are more schematics for other Fender amplifier models - and there are a *lot* of them.

So if anyone knows and could point me to an explanation, I'd be forever grateful.

Still Clean

It’s Tuesday. The mold was cleaned off of my guitar amplifier on Sunday and it still looks clean. Another day sans-mold.

Success, I Think

Go back in time two posts and look at the picture I shared of my Fender Bassbreaker 18/30 amplifier with something that appears to be mold covering the imitation tweed. I don’t know where that came from. I don’t know why it’s on that amplifier but not on either of the other two Bassbreaker products I own (the Bassbreaker15 watt amp and the 1×12 extension speaker cabinet).

It’s gross.

I found a post on reddit that suggested using white vinegar to clean off whatever that mold looking shit is. I guess mold growing on tweed amps is a thing? I’ll share a screen shot of the post here:

I went grocery shopping today and picked up a bottle of white vinegar. I just finished sponging off the amp and it looks like it worked. I am mostly pleased with the results. The only negative I can see at this point (assuming whatever that shit was doesn’t just grow back immediately) is that now my amp smells like vinegar… and so does my cellar… and so do I. Oh well.

It looks good so far though.

Looks like Alex Lifeson and Mojotone are bringing out new versions of Lifeson’s signature Lerxst amps.

That sound you are hearing right now (not the youtube clip) is me drooling. They are too expensive to really consider, but that doesn’t matter. I’m still drooling. Literally.

My latest crazy idea—stereo class D mini guitar amplifier. $40 for the amp board and power supply. I’m planning to stuff it into a pedal enclosure. Stereo input cable arrives tomorrow so I can test it with the pedalboard. Running 19v into the amp to get 35 watts per channel.
