Psidium cattleianum ("strawberry guava"). This yellow variety is far superior in sweetness to your everyday red ones. In Hawaii the yellow is referred to as "Waivee". These are extra large this year because they were fertilized with fine sparkling local organic, sustainable, nonalcoholic, gluten-free, milk-free ammonia (cough, cough, wink, wink). Harvested just as they start turning yellow, they will ripen fully inside. If you leave them outside they drop and the critters get them instead. #garden #guava

The first pineapple guava blossoms in our garden.

We have added 15 fruit trees over the years, and have room for more.

My lemon guavas are starting to ripen & once they starts it happens very quickly. A lot of these will be ready by tomorrow. I’ve already harvested a couple of dozen over the last two days. A lot of them are fatter a juicier than they have been in previous years, no doubt due to the amount of rain we’ve had. They don’t last very long though, but they’re certainly delicious & I pretty much eat as I pick. They’ll be nearly all finished in a couple of weeks. #Garden #Fruit #Guava
