Il Tempo: La Russia rigetta l'Europa: "Non può avere un ruolo da mediatore in Ucraina"

Per la Russia, il sostegno Ue all'Ucraina le precluderebbe la partecipazione costruttiva negli sforzi negoziali. A dirlo è stato il viceministro degli Esteri, Alexander Grushko che ha detto: "Si, la retorica e apparentemente volta a stabilire la pace. Ci chiedono di fermarci, chiedono un cessate il fuoco, la pace. Ma in realtà, stanno facendo tutto il possibile per prolungare il conflitto il più possibile, e affermano apertamente che più a lungo durerà, più a lungo la Russia si concentrerà sull'Ucraina e meno probabile sarà che la Russia attacchi i paesi dell'UE e della NATO". 
Per Mosca sarebbe infatti comodo spingere verso un disinteressamento Ue verso Kiev, su cui fa pressione dall'inizio della guerra, e perciò tenta di nuovo di dividere l'Occidente. Prima indicando Schroder, poi "escludendo" l'Ue dai colloqui. "Questa logica determina le loro azioni e, di conseguenza, esclude al momento qualsiasi partecipazione costruttiva dell'Unione Europea agli sforzi volti a spostare il conflitto su un canale politico e diplomatico" ha concluso Grushko.
Nel frattempo, dopo l'ipotesi di Schroder come negoziatore proposta da Putin, l'Ue aveva rivendicato la propria autonomia decisionale in merito ai negoziati.

Russia rejects Europe: “It cannot have a mediating role in Ukraine.”

For Russia, EU support for Ukraine would preclude constructive participation in negotiation efforts. This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko who said: "Yes, the rhetoric and apparently aimed at establishing peace. They ask us to stop, they ask for a ceasefire, for peace. But in reality, they are doing everything possible to prolong the conflict as much as possible, and they openly state that the longer it lasts, the longer Russia will focus on Ukraine and the less likely Russia is to attack EU and NATO countries.”

For Moscow, it would be convenient to push for a disinterest in Kiev from the EU, which it has been putting pressure on since the beginning of the war, and therefore it is attempting to divide the West again. Initially indicating Schroder, then “excluding” the EU from talks. “This logic determines their actions and, consequently, excludes at the moment any constructive participation of the European Union in efforts to shift the conflict to a political and diplomatic channel,” Grushko concluded.

Meanwhile, following Putin’s proposal of Schroder as a negotiator, the EU had asserted its decision-making autonomy regarding negotiations.
