We're starting the big garden seedling run and wow, 72 cells is a lot of plants.
I scavenged some 3x6 cells from another project and fit them together into a standard 1020 tray. So far the plan includes 18 tomatoes and 32 hot peppers, plus a bunch of herb and veg odds and ends. (3-6 of each pepper; jalapenos, 3 colors of habanero, and fun ones like the gorgeous purple "black Hungarian" peppers and the stripey "Thai fish pepper" that is neither from Asia nor a fish pepper.) Oh, and a little medical as well, firing some bubblegum auto seeds I've got laying around.
I am beginning to fear squirrels though. We had issues with them planting peanuts everywhere last year, and this year we don't have the cats out there discouraging them. I think I'm going to turn some of those peppers into squirrel crying juice to spray on the other plants. (Bird flu is "endemic" in our county, before the orange turd censorship kicked in. Convincing a cat to ignore a sick bird is not gonna work, so they're stuck inside for the duration. Don't ask how the rescue is taking it.)

Freakshow looking good! Those few brown spots are from when it got too dry weeks ago, not a nute issue. Mutant pinnate cannabis. I'm a little worried it's small for its age (27 days) but I think I'm just not used to plants with such tight internodal spacing.

It is harvest day! Our third grow, Prez Candy, came down a couple hours ago. She was an experiment in pure low-stress training. No pruning, no trimming, not even extra time. Just tied down for the '12 week' schedule, with a couple extra weeks early in veg because she was slow to start, and a half a week extra in flower because of don't ask but its fine.

Something here worked. We got a large main cola and decent heavy buds. No seeds, almost no fluff, just a reasonable amount of weed. That makes me very happy, and the next grow gets real training. (News on that tomorrowish if anyone reminds me.)

Did I mention that I started another #weed grow? Prez Candy from the legalization day giveaway last year. (President Kush x ARC x 91 Chemdog.) Only 1 of the 4 germinated, but I wasn't going to keep more than 2 anyway.

The automation is mad about the soil conductivity but it is mostly a lie. It's in fresh Happy Frog mixed about 50/50 with coco coir so it does have food but mostly it has wet and fibrous.

When you play video games, do you ever end up with a bunch of resolved-but-not-collected side quests? Rewards just hanging out in various towns and such, waiting for you to show up and collect them.

Today's projects are in that state. The workroom floor is finally done, despite #Lowes and #Pergo discontinuing the flooring. All that is left this morning is to put up some basic trim! (#enshittification rant: I hate the fucking "store exclusive" crap. Our #HomeDepot is super duper terrible, but if we'd gone with their "exclusive" #pergo flooring we could have gotten more.. unlike #Lowes identical-but-incompatible #pergo. I ended up getting a much different color and mixing it in as best I could. It is... fine. We won't be using #pergo when we redo the entire ground floor though. Fuck encouraging that noise.)

Now that the workroom is finishing up, it is time for Germination Day! I've got a huge pile of plastic seed starters and room in the "nursery" tent, so I'm firing off the #cucumber and #tomato seeds a little early. It is also time to start another #cannabis grow for the workroom.

Suggestions welcome! The outdoor garden is new, building it entirely with containers on shelves for now. The climbers are going into a long fabric planter with a metal trellis, and most everything else gets a 3 or 5 gallon fabric pot. So far nothing from my peppers germination has popped except a single #jalapeno, so I'll be starting new ones.

Buried at the bottom is today's complaint. If you require a human to explain why they followed you, say so in your profile. You can save everyone some friction.

Its time for a #tweeds update! I guess it was actually time like a week ago but whatever. Shush.

Grow tent starting population was two Duct Tape plants (heavy indica) and a Cheetah Piss (sativa). I intentionally over-grew the Duct Tape ladies to get a deeeeep couch lock effect. We middle aged folk need winter weed to address pain more than we need to make game night more fun. (The Cheetah Piss is just aging slower.)

Last week we harvested the larger Duct Tape, and she went into jars yesterday. (I took full branches through a peroxide dip and drip, then a basic wet hand trim and into the tent. This is only my second run, and I got basically nothing the first time except experience.)

The brand new dry tent is nice, but just as I got set up winter flipped my humidity problem around. Nothing I did got the humidity above 50%, much less the desired 65. I'll be building a wick humidifier with a clean (peroxide-rinsed) towel before tonight's harvest to see if that helps. Worst case, I guess I can plumb the grow tent exhaust into the drying tent. Both tents have humidity-driven exhaust fans, and the grow tent and lung room both have dehumidifiers. The grow tent is nicely managed even on watering days but I just don't have a good way to bring clean wet air into the dry tent.

Tonight the remaining Duct Tape (top-right of the picture) comes down, and the Cheetah Piss (foreground and left) gets all the light and love for a few more days before her turn. More in alt.

Even though I gave away sooo many seeds, I've still got a bunch to choose from for the next run. I'll post a poll soon - I need to sprout 2 for the tent (plus a spare in case of males) and 1 to go be a friend's houseplant. The theme of the next run is going to be Pruning Hell. I need to get more experience, and the houseplant needs to be super bushy so that she doesn't need tons of maintenance. Been a while without a Snarkhome update, so here comes a combo update for the Snarkhome, the Peppers and the Tweeds.

โ€‹โ€‹ ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ The peppers are fine. Reaper went back outside after the storm and started 2 more fucking death peppers, bringing the total to like 9. Fishie and the Bonnets are all inside under new lights, finishing off their harvests. I even figured out where to dry the rest of them without accidentally less-lethalling the entire house.

๐Ÿค– In smarthome upgrade news, not so much an upgrade as an angry, cursing replacement of complete trash. Since the last update, I've switched out all of the SwitchBot plugs. Fucking 3 of them went horribly terribly fire-startingly wrong. And did I mention they have no warranty? So now all the grow stuff for the tent, hydrotower, peppers, etc is being controlled by "Third Reality" Zigbee switches instead. (https://amzn.to/3t2w0e0) They have been in for about a week and so far they Just Work. (Bonus, they haven't tried to burn down my house. Not even a little.)
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Since I needed a break from not burning down the house, I converted my notify actions to use https://github.com/nimroddolev/chime_tts for the common 'chime, talk, exit-chime' tasks. (Like when the Big Ear regains sight of the cat, it plays a fanfare instead of the normal attention chime before announcing his return and location.) There is some issue now where not all of the speakers go off reliably, but if I go back to targeting them in a group it works. โ€‹โ€‹ I'll just put the helper group back if it gets annoying.

โ€‹โ€‹ Finally, the Tweeds are growing nicely. I did get that back corner somewhat under control yesterday, but it is still extra tall over there. It happens. They'll get defoliated with their next (and first) feeding, probably tomorrow. (They are on fresh happy frog, so no need for food yet.) This lovely weather has the windows open, so my tent climate control is mad at me but so long as it keeps up I don't care.

Question for the #homegrow crowd: Where do you dry your harvest? (Assuming dry trimming I guess.)

I'm considering just using the lung room, but that seems sketchy. The room humidity is OK even in the rain, and I can rig lines behind the tent, but...  
I've only got one tent, so using it means all 3 plants have to harvest at once. (My first attempt was almost all larf because we're clueless about training, and also we had to harvest the whole plant at once. We couldn't finish off the lower buds because we needed the tent for drying.)
