Der #Großglockner-Prozess geht in die Berufung. Ich bin tatsächlich nicht überrascht. Höchstens, dass die Berufung von beiden Seiten kommt.
(Irgendwann schreibe ich vielleicht mal mehr dazu. Ich habe da nämlich einige Gedanken zu.)

Aber alleine, ohne Verantwortung für andere (obwohl man freilich immer auch Verantwortung für potentielle Retter hat).

That's not just a story of "They should have turned around earlier", that's also a story of "Let the helicopter save you when it's already there!"
And why did they try to summit in winter??
Last winter, a 33 years old woman died of hypothermia close to the peak of Austria's highest mountain, Großglockner (3798 m), in the night, in winds of up to 74 km/h and - 8 ° C.
Her boyfriend has now been indicted for "grob fahrlässige Tötung" (grossly negligent homicide? never sure about the translation of legal terms).
He called emergency services at 0:35 and is accused of leaving her at 2 AM without protecting her from the wind.
He was way more experienced than her and in Austria, that can lead to legal responsibilities similar to a guide.
When a helicopter (alerted by other mountaineers who saw their lights from a hut [edit: it was actually the hut's webcam, I don't think anyone was at that hut]) reached them at 22:30 they didn't indicate they were in trouble. By the time emergency services reached her by foot at 10 AM, she was dead.
