Any #grimmory experts here on the Fediverse? I'm considering migrating my #eBook library from Calibre, and I have some questions:

1) Is there a way to ignore 'A' and 'The' at the beginning of titles when sorting libraries alphabetically?

2) Is there a way to set a default library target for the bookdrop, and have grimmory ingest books with zero metadata editing and zero human interaction?

Thanks!

So ages ago, I bought the entire #HarryPotter series as Pottermore, which was the only way to purchase the HP #ebooks at the time.

They had some kind of weird download restrictions and I burned a few of the download attempts when the downloads cocked up. Anyway, I managed to download all of them as EPUBs but this was probably the first hint I got that not everything was all right with this greedy weirdo. Also, got me the bright idea that maybe I should always keep the local copies of digital stuff I bought around if I can.

Anyway, back then, I bought them as light summer reading. *Never got around to.* Found better books to read that summer, wouldn't you believe. (I've seen the movies. I think. I don't remember much about the latter ones.)

Anyway, I'm now seeing the catalog data is correct on my ebooks on yet another platform, #Grimmory, and it gives me *great pleasure* to report Grimmory has "Won't Read" as a reading status. Har!

Woes of an #ADHD brained literature lover:

One major Finnish #ebooks store shut down a few years ago.

Fortunately all of the books were non-DRMed EPUB files.

After downloading all of the books, I *dutifully* wrote down the store info for all of the books I had purchased, so that I could add this information to my local collection.

However, #Calibre's user interface sucked and was buggy.

So! Years later, I have the books in #Grimmory now. And you can actually add back-cover blurb information into this thing without it crashing or corrupting everything! Neat!

NOW. Where the hell did I put that store information that I wrote down? ...where oh where oh where...

#books

I previously migrated my drm-free/de-drm'd #ebooks collection from Calibre Web to #Booklore.

It appears, however, that Booklore has randomly been discontinued. Fortunately, it's been forked as #Grimmory.

Just migrated the stuff over annnnnd it works and omigosh I just realised what a mess the metadata situation here was. Well, I don't need to think of a summer project then.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention! It will be fun to watch how #NeoDB and #Grimmory mature and borrow ideas from each other. We users and self-hosters will benefit from having such choices!

Oh man. I didn't use the app for a few weeks, and it seems that #booklore is already dead and I missed all the drama.

Just when I was liking the self hosted comics reader etc.

Anyways I hope the migration to https://grimmory.org/ would be a drop in replacement.

#grimmory

I've obviously grown accustomed to the breakneck pace of releases back in the #booklore / #vibecoding days

Migrated to #grimmory after the fork and 2.3.0 release... I've been keeping an eye on pull requests and patiently awaiting the next release... It looks like they're really working hard on overhauling the insides and not focusing too hard on new features right now

I think the future is bright ✨
