I did not know this, but Oriole (aka Princess Lardass) decided to demonstrate.

Photos taken as I unloaded her at the rehab center, after a 4 hour relay to get her to her new home.

Harvoin tulee hallia nähtyä Turunmaan saariston sisäosissa, ehkä laji viihtyy enemmän ulkosaaristossa. Itämeren hylkeet (halli ja itämerennorppa) rauhoitettiin 1980-luvulla, kun kannat heikkenivät sukupuuton partaalle ympäristömyrkkyjen ja liiallisen metsästyksen vuoksi. Suojelun ansiosta kannat ovat elpyneet ja hallia voi vilaukselta nähdä kalastamassa, jos hoksaa...

It is rare to see grey seals in the inner parts of the Turku archipelago, perhaps the species thrives more in the outer areas of the archipelago. The seals of the Baltic Sea (grey seal and ringed seal) were protected in the 1980s when the populations declined to the brink of extinction due to environmental toxins and excessive hunting. Thanks to the protection, the populations have recovered and you can catch a glimpse of the grey seal fishing if you are lucky...
