"Melissa" (sometimes called "Sweet Melissa") is a song by American rock band #theAllmanBrothersBand, released in August 1972 as the second single from the group's fourth album, #EatAPeach. The song was written by vocalist #GreggAllman in 1967, well before the founding of the group. Two #demoVersions from those years exist, including a version cut by #the31stOfFebruary, a band that featured #ButchTrucks, the Allman Brothers' later drummer.

The song was regularly played live and was the basis for much longer and more intense performances.
