Green coding or hosting can form part of a sensible Corporate Digital Responsibility strategy. It can also serve as a future safeguard should you wish to move away from US big tech companies.

All programmes, services and websites have one thing in common: they consist of code. Whether written by a human or by generative AI is, for now, irrelevant – just as with its origins, modern information technology is based on simple programming code. Enter: green coding.

I'm tired of what AI is doing to the internet and software. I'm tired of the resource scarcity, and I'm sad about the negative impact of LLMs on the #programming field and the art of development, as well as the effects its having on our #environment .

Aujourd'hui, j'apprends à installer un petit Raspberry Pi à la maison pour auto-héberger mes 2 sites web.

Le but : améliorer l'empreinte carbone en utilisant un mini ordi peu gourmand, posé dans un garage frais sans clim.

Mon site d'autrice (public français) a peu de trafic (pas de best-seller pour l'instant) et l'autre site est à mon seul usage, pas de raison que quelqu'un le trouve, donc autant l'héberger à la maison.
