Supreme Court sides with Trump administration in green card holders case
The Supreme Court is siding with the Trump administration in an immigration case dealing with the government’s power over green card holders accused of crimes. The Tuesday case centers on an immigration officers’ 2012 decision to put a green-card holder on immigration parole when he returned from a short trip abroad because he had been accused of a counterfeiting crime. Muk Choi Lau said that decision overstepped the officers’ authority, but the Justice Department disagreed. The case started before Trump's presidency, but the decision comes as the court considers a series of immigration issues against the backdrop of President Donald Trump’s sweeping immigration crackdown.
