Almost one year ago: A big rain event caused flooding over the bulkheads at Heckscher State Park which is located on the amazing but denuded Great South Bay of Long Island. March 2024 was the wettest March on record as recorded at KISP with 9.54 inches (24cm) of rain.

On July 4, 1976 — the #UnitedStates #Bicentennial — a group of #CherryGrove #residents in their best #drag sailed west along the #GreatSouthBay to #FireIslandPinesHarbor. They docked and stood in #solidarity with their #sisters, declaring that #discrimination would never be tolerated again.
