Llanelli Town AFC becomes first Welsh club to launch fan investment campaign on Republic Europe

The move marks a new chapter for the club, which recently returned to the Cymru Premier, and aims to secure long-term sustainability through supporter-led financing.

Fans invited to invest in club’s future

The campaign, hosted on Republic Europe, invites fans and investors to back Llanelli Town AFC’s ambitions both on and off the pitch. Investment will support redevelopment of the historic Stebonheath Park, strengthen youth pathways, and expand commercial and community opportunities.

“Together we can secure a sustainable future and write the next chapter of success for Llanelli Town AFC — returning our proud club to the European stage where it belongs,” the club states on its campaign page.

Deal brokered by Glasgow-based sports agency

The launch was facilitated by Intermezzo Sports Ltd, a Glasgow-based agency specialising in football club mergers, finance, and strategic partnerships.

“Fan and investor ownership provides clubs with an alternative source of capital, while offering supporters the chance to play a meaningful role in shaping the future of their team,” said Cesare Marchetti, CEO of Intermezzo Sports.

Republic Europe — formerly Seedrs — is part of the global Republic investment ecosystem and has supported similar campaigns across Europe. The platform says it aims to democratise sports ownership and help community-based clubs thrive.

Wider shift in football financing

Llanelli Town’s launch reflects a growing trend among lower-league and grassroots clubs seeking alternatives to traditional ownership models. With rising costs and competitive pressures, fan-backed investment is increasingly seen as a way to build resilience and deepen engagement.

The campaign is expected to go live later this autumn, with full details available via Republic Europe.
