FlominatorToday's very belated #grandma recording showed how quick-witted ("schlagfertig") her Marie Schindler grandma had been. Once, people from town-hall asked her, what she feeds the chickens (it was post-war time and resources were scarce). She swiftly replied: "I double their wage, but for the food, they must look after by themselves".
Why listening to the recording, I discovered, that the forester which employed Marie as a maidservant, actually was married to a sister of Marie's grandfather (it's ok, if you're lost now). I had always wondered, how exactly she ended up at the job, but the connection now explains it, I guess.
The recording from February 2022 ended with her telling that now it looks ugly with a war, asking me, what I think. Who would have thought, that now, over four years later and with grandma dead for two and half years, this stupid war in #Ukraine would still be ongoing.
