Grande Dent de Morcles (Big Tooth of Morcles) is situated in the south-west of Switzerland. Its summit is at 2969 meter and has (or better: could have π) a fanstastic panorama all around.
To the north you can see Lac LΓ©man (Lake of Geneva), to the south-west Mont Blanc and south-east the Matterhorn (both were covered in clouds when we were up there).
Most of the hike is a pretty easy T3. Only the last 100 meters are T5. On the picture you can see the Petite Dent de Morcles (Little Tooth of Morcles, 2629 meter).
Day 2: The Grande Dent de Morcles (2'969m / 9'740ft) is a mountain in the west part of canton Valais/Wallis, Switzerland. From the hut it is an easy hike, with the last 150 meters a T5 climb.
The view from the summit is superb. Mont Blanc (when not in clouds) and Lac LΓ©man (which is Lake of Geneva, but let nobody hear you call it like that) can be seen. Not everybody felt comfortable descending via the "Grande Vire" to the Cabane de la Tourche, which is a steep descent with a higher chance of rockfall, so we decided to circle back and take the safer but much longer route to the hut.
We arrived just in time for diner. During our hike we met a German woman hiking alone and it appeared to be her birthday. To celebrate we had a nice bottle of local wine together. It was a perfect end of a long but satisfying day.
