I came across the work of Stef Van Looveren
The exhibition was interesting, but the video of the performance was especially impressive.

I kept an eye on it a bit and saw that there was also a final performance on the last day.

I attended the event and took my #Pentax17 and Voigtländer Bessa with me... It’s always a bit tricky, of course, with limited artificial light and moving images. (My Voigtländer shots are still on the film in my camera… I wonder if they’ll have turned out all right )

It’s a bit of a new story, and yet an old one
What’s new? This is the first time I’ve used a lab other than my usual one in Ghent
(I’ve been using it my whole analogue life in Ghent)
But not so long ago, I said:
The lab in #ghent I’ve been using all my life (and get very little credit for) has had its full-frame negative scanner break down. So I’m missing my proof that I don’t crop my photos… sorry about that !!

Years ago, a great many young women would step in front of my camera entirely of their own free will. Because they wanted to capture their youthful beauty in an artistic way. Because they enjoyed it, because it made them feel stronger, for all sorts of personal reasons.

I’m not really searching for anything anymore, but I also think the whole picture has changed now. With the rise of sites like Insta, the everyday selfie, complete with all sorts of filters, has taken over. Insta is all about instant fame and self-affirmation. You don’t need someone else’s perspective on yourself (e.g. a photographer); you decide your own image and become a commercial ‘like’ product.
