Respect to whoever went the extra mile to make this Minion letterbox.

I stopped to photograph it at the entrance to a rural driveway in Lyttelton Harbour. I like how yellow reflectors have been added to it can be seen by car traffic.

Some skilled parent must be very popular with their children. 😀

The #Cholmondeley Memorial Home for Convalescent Children was opened at Governor’s Bay, #Christchurch, on Saturday afternoon by the Hon. Sir R. Heaton Rhodes. This home, which is the gift of Mr. H. Cholmondeley, is a beautiful building, and will be controlled by the Ministering Children’s League. It is in memory of Mr. Cholmondeley’s late wife, Mrs. Margaret Cholmondeley. It will accommodate at one time between forty and fifty children, as well as matron, nurses, and household staff. Built in brick, it is in an ideal situation for a convalescent hospital. Mr. Cholmondeley has also provided the crockery for the entire household, each piece being in white china, with the monogram in blue, “C.M.H.” Undoubtedly the gift is one of the finest that has ever been made to the children of Christchurch and Canterbury.

Note: “Cholmondeley” in this context is pronounced the normal(!) way = CHUM-lee
