Not only that, but #gout, in almost all patients, is easily controlled. #Allopurinol is effective and well tolerated (and there are other treatments for the few patients who can't take allopurinol). Your mother needs to see a doctor and get the right treatment for her very serious condition. It'll give her her life back. It did for me!

What can you do about gout?
Classic therapy for gout consists of taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and/or colchicine.

OK Fediverse, I have had 3 gout attacks in my life, 1 about 3 years ago, 2 in the last 3 months. It’s bloody miserable and colchicine is a horrible drug.

Allopurinol sounds risky too.

As a gout newbie is anybody having success with lifestyle changes to manage attacks ? I don’t eat red meat or shellfish. Occasional beer or red wine.

Uric acid was 7.8 mg/dL Doc says below 6 is advisable.

Any recommendations on books or references ?

If you want to dm suggestions that’s fine.
