The apotropaic image of a Gorgon's head was a common protection symbol throughout ancient Greece and the Hellenistic world. This particular image was done in the Attic style, based particularly the Gorgon images found painted in kylix cups from the 4th Century BCE.
Each piece is hand-made to order in my home studio, with unique variations and defects as a result of the fabrication and casting process.

Talisman is available in .925 sterling silver, shibuichi (a 3:1 copper: silver art metal alloy), brass, or bronze. It is available as a coin, with a perpendicular bail for wearing as a pendant, or a parallel upeye for hanging on a key chain.

It's the Day of Ares / Mars' Day / #Tuesday!

Meet this cuirassed #Roman marble bust of #Mars! A Corinthian helmet pushed back high above the forehead upon his wavy hair and the cuirass decorated with a small #gorgoneion identify him as Mars.

The helmet, the tip of nose, the lower edges of cheek-pieces, and a small patch of drapery have been restored in the 18th century.
